It’s Bike to Wherever Month! Join in!

San Carlos Hometown Days (5/18 - 5/19)

The Hometown Days celebration runs all this weekend at Burton Park. Join your fellow bikers for the following activities:

Pre-parade roll on Laurel Street

What: You’re the parade! Roll the Laurel Street on your bike, ebike, or scooter.

When: 9:15 AM, Saturday the 18th

Where: Wheeler Plaza parking lot (next to Paris Baguette) on Laurel Street

On Saturday morning, May 18, biking, scootering, and wheel-riding enthusiasts of all ages are welcome to ride just ahead of the Hometown Days Parade. Meet between 9:15 and 9:30 AM at the Wheeler Plaza parking lot (next to Paris Baguette) on Laurel Street.

The ride: We'll take off as a group at 9:40 am, ride along the parade route, and end up at Burton Park. Costumes, decorations, and pinwheels are encouraged! Questions: Email us at sancarlosbikes@gmail.com

Let us know if you’d be willing to help lead the ride or ride sweep.

Bike parking at Hometown Days

Arrive by bike, scooter, or e-bike, and our volunteers will valet-park your wheels in the tennis courts area of Burton Park. We’re open from 10AM - 5PM Saturday and Sunday.

Issues with your bike? No problem: At most times, we’ll have a mechanic on hand to help with minor repairs.

Better yet, volunteer as a bike valet or mechanic and help us out! Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805054CA9AB23A0F85-49480409-2024#/ -- If you have basic bike fix-it skills, consider volunteering for the repair stand in the bike parking zone.

Building a bikable downtown San Carlos

Come to the June 10th city council meeting to voice your support for the City’s bike and pedestrian plans for downtown San Carlos. City staff will present an excellent plan that makes it safer and easier for all of us to walk, bike, or roll downtown. If completely adopted, this plan will:

  • Add bike lanes on the downtown section of San Carlos Avenue

  • Transform the already pedestrian-only 700-block of Laurel Street into a world-class pedestrian plaza with amenities

  • Build safe, efficient routes for people to cross El Camino at Arroyo Avenue and Brittan Avenue. For people who live and/or work on the East Side, the connection to the pedestrian tunnel at Arroyo will provide a crucial link to shopping, housing, and schools west of El Camino.

Join us!

Where: City Hall, 600 Elm Street

When: June 10, 7PM

San Carlos Hilly Ride planned for late August

Want to ride your bike uphill until your legs scream, “No more!”? Look no further: A group of ravenous hillclimbers will take to the hills and vales of San Carlos on August 25, 2024. Ride maps from past years are here, and this year’s routes are likely to be similar:
